Digital Learning Beginning March 16th, 2020

Since we are transitioning to digital learning until further notice, Edmodo and Remind will be the best tools for communicating, sharing documents, and maintaining office hours with me. Students should have created Remind accounts at the beginning of the semester. Announcements will be sent this way. Students can also text me any questions they have using this site/app. Office Hours will be from 10:30-12, and I am accessible all day long via remind as well.

I have already set up classes on Edmodo so that I can share resources and assignments with students more effectively. Please have your student create an Edmodo account by following these instructions:

EDMODO INSTRUCTIONS
Part 1: Account Set-up (Including profile pictures and cell phone notifications)
Set-up:
  1. The first step is to go www.edmodo.com and click on the “I’m a student” button.
  2. To create your account, select the “Sign up with Office 365” option at the top.
  3. Join our class using the class codes below:
1st BLOCK:  gnrqn8
3rd BLOCK: yugjud
4th BLOCK: uzajwp
  1. Now, to customize your profile go up to “Account” on the upper right hand corner and choose settings. To change your profile picture, click on the browse tab, and select the picture you want to insert. You will see the picture you chose pop up.
  2. Next, go over to the “Notifications” box on the right and click on the arrow to choose “text message.” Enter your phone number and provider to receive notifications and announcements directly to your phone. Make sure all boxes are checked. You have the option of receiving the notifications via email as well, then click “save notifications.” Edmodo will then send you a 6-digit activation code that you need to enter to activate the text message service. You will receive a message confirming your activation.
Leaving Comments/Replies:
  1. Leave a short comment telling me what your favorite color is to let me know that you are on track with this process. This is where you can post comments or questions about the course assignments. DO NOT POST RANDOM COMMENTS ON THE WALL! Only post things that are relevant to the entire class, or you will be blocked!

Assignments – Retrieve and Turn in Assignments:
  1. You can see what assignments you are responsible for by clicking on the “Assignments” link. The most recent assignment will show up at the top of the page. The directions for the assignment will be described in the grey box. If there is an attachment, you need to click on the assignment link (do click on preview, because the document may not open).
  2. Once you have completed the assignment, it is time to submit it on Edmodo. Your assignment should be saved in your Office 365 folder. To do this, you click on the “Open Assignment” button, and then the “Turn In” button. Attach your file by clicking on the File button that has the folder next to it and select the file from your folder. Once the file has been uploaded, click on the “Turn in Assignment” button. You could also use your google docs to upload from as well
